Musical Fidelity A1 (the new version)

Spektre

Brit alert
Its been some years since I heard owned a solid state amplifier having lived with my Line Magnetic (3rd version) triode amp for 10 years, so today I powered up a Musical Fidelity A! and was instantly pleased with what I heard. Both amps are class A and run hot, both are low wattage. Similarities are their vivid and very alive sound although I was taken aback at the extra precision and detail I can hear on the A1. As expected the sound from the A1 does not spread out quiet much as the LM 845 but it counters with better specificity and a little more transparency. I need to listen more over the next coming days before I make a decision on whether to keep my Line magnetic though.

I've read it's more detailed and dynamic than the original, which was overly warm and lacking clarity.
I would purchase the MF A1 in a heartbeat, if I could justify the cost. A nice stereo has been a thing of the past for many years, now that I'm retired and 73.
