Musical Fidelity A5 not reading discs

Hi,

I picked up a used Musical Fidelity A5 CD player in excellent cosmetic shape. It powers on and the drawer works but it keeps reading "No Disc" when I put in a variety of manufactured CDs. And yes, the discs are put in with the label facing up as required. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be wrong? I'm located in DC and if it's nothing simple, I'd appreciate any recommendations for someone who might be able to diagnose and fix the problem. The reviews of the player are stellar and I'd like to keep it for my system if I can get it working properly.
