Musings on improving vintage speakers - what do you think?

I say max em out....if you keep the original parts/wire, etc you can always unrestore...Or get a second pair of AR4's...arent there like a lot of them?

When Gordon rewired my EV12trxb's and recapped, it was just awesome...~!
 
It's been several years since this post. Since then has anyone replaced the AR-4x tweeter with the EPI inverted dome? If so, what crossover changes did you make. I see in this post that Gordon suggests just changing the cap to a 10uf.

I have a pair of AR-4X with replacement Radio Shack tweeters, no POTS, no woofer coil and a replacement all-in-one Radio Shack crossover.

They don't sound very good and I'm trying to determine a best next step. The EPI tweeter sounds promising.
