MX-1000u vs MX-A5000

Can anyone tell me the difference in sound quality between the MX-1000u and the MX-A5000. I know the MX 1000 has lots more power than the 5000 and 5000 has more channels and is a home theater amp. What I would like to know, which sounds best for 2 channel listen. I have 2 different kinds of speaks, not to be driven at the same time.

for HT use the 5000, for stereo use the 1000 :)

apples and oranges in my opinion. Have not listen to a 5000, but I have a monster receiver from Marantz SR-9600 I believe. I did a comparison with an MX. The receiver holds its own but separates all the way is my way.

purposely built stereo amplifier, as close as it get to a wire with gain concept, is what the MX-1000/U is. Some would call it a "dry" sound. I call it unforgiving. I have many other amps and have listen to many other amps. Each amps has its "color". The MX is the most transparent amp I have. I am sure there are may amps out there that are deemed superior and it is up to one's interpretation as to what a "good" amp is. Hoping to get my paws on an MX-10000 one day :D

If I were to describe the MX-1000 in one sentence: A very transparent and versatile amp that will deliver where other substantially more desired and substantially more expensive amps cannot. Bold statement indeed, but not exaggerated. Not just my opinion either. I had a larger than typical flock of MX-1000s and had to part away with some...they ended up with my friends. They are still calling to thank me or to describe the sounds they heard for the first time on tunes they have been listing to for years.

MX-1000 and MX-1000U should be the same amplifier.

The MX-1000 for two channel without a doubt. I find all Yamaha's power amps to have a 'house sound' which to my ears, is clean and clinical. The 1000 is brutally powerful and a sight to behold.
