I bought an MX 113 from a friend about a year ago. I didn't do anything to it until this week. Figured it needed a good cleaning since it's pristine original so I cleaned everything. Everything works. I hooked up an antenna and I'm getting great reception but the FM section is noisy. Just a faint amount of distortion. Could it be a resistor somewhere that is causing the noise?

If you are saying the tuner is noisy it most likely needs a alighnment after the variable capacitor contacts are cleaned.

Again if the distortion is limited to the tuner a hint to the alignment need would be how close the dial indicator lines up to the actual station broadcast frequency and does the tuning seem to get quieter and the signal stronger if you tune it slightly off station.

If the distortion happen on all sources you most likely have a failing transistor in the signal path.

Its just the tuner section.
