MX-150 shows "McIntosh MX-150" screen and standby lights flashing.

I just bought a second hand MX150 and its been a nightmare.

The device resets itself most of the time I put it on standby or unplug the power. I had managed to store the settings and I have to hope and pray that I can connect to the device via a computer and LAN to restore the settings.

Yesterday, the electricity went out for a few seconds and the device has been showing "McIntosh MX150" and the standby light has been flashing.
I have tried a long power plug unplugged and also tried the hard reset (plug back the power and wait for 5 minutes and press and hold the standby/power button until MCU Reset appears) and it has not worked.

Does anyone know how to get out of this MX150 mess.

Some powercords the C15 iec fits loosely. If the unplug hard reset doesn’t work try a tighter fitting powercord or wrap teflon plumbing tape to snug it up and make sure plug is fully seated.

After the 5 minute unplug replug and red light is on switch on power after comes up. Switch back off. Then back on and try using then

The unit does need to be reset if power is lost to the unit. That's all it takes to require a reset. The reset process is discussed on page 44-45 of the MX151 manual, the process can be made easier by saving the setup you arranged (inputs and such) to a memory stick then reloading that stick whenever power is lost and the unit needs to be reset. It's really odd but lost power causes these processors to pretty much forget everything....

The RoomPerfect has to be rerun every time power is lost to the unit as that portion of the setup is not stored on the memory stick. The input arrangements are but not the RP.

I have searched for a way to "battery back up/audio grade UPS" the power on the MX151 so the this never occurs, but haven't found any substantially supported technical information as to what specifically would be required (a simple computer grade model isn't sufficient, has to be a sine-wave audio grade type of thing), and I've not heard Mac or anyone else recommend anything specifically nor much of anyone else on these forums that discuss the MX series.

I suspect that if the MX series could be supported by a quality UPS that's audio grade that whole lot of the service issues this thing encounters would go away.

If anyone has any ideas (or get through to Mac) and knows/can ask about a potential solution to THAT problem I suspect a lot of us might benefit.

There is a method to reset the logic, microprocessors on a MX 150. I have to do it any time there is a brown out or power failure with a spike upon return of AC service. With the unit turned off disconnect the power cord for over a minute. Then reconnect the Power Cord and turn on the unit with the standby power red button. Wait for another minute or so for the unit to run thru its sequence. Then the unit should be good to go.

My mx150 processor suddenly stopped starting and is completely unresponsive. I can't do a hard reset as described. The display simply says mcintosh mx150 and the red light above the standby button flashes red. Unplugging for a few hours and plugging it back in did nothing. Any thoughts on how to fix the problem? If this is a problem with the file system, is it possible to get an image of the card and instructions for installing it? The last version installed on the processor was mcintosh_mx150_20120330.tar.bz2. But then I just updated the system.
