mx-70&cx-2

Hi everybody, im new too this forum, and sadly, i haven`t said hi yet.. til now anyways i wonder if anyone here have any info on the yamaha mx-70 and the cx-2 , by this date i have the m-40, m-45 and c-85 . I can get those for about 535$ in mint condition , should i ? Yourse Mrramsrud

I have a cx-2, bought it new 1997. It fits the bill. Others will act like snobs and say it is not top of line. I bought it instead of cx-1 that was top of the line as yamaha rep told me to buy it instead of c-x1. apparently there are cold solder issues with c-x1 . these are last two audiophile pre-amps yamaha made

thanks for the answer Jygesq but how would you compare it too the c-85, and about the mx-70? does anybody have some experience about it ? And it has the HCA feature..

I have both the C-80 (which is similar to the C-85) and the CX-70. They are basically identical. In the CX-70 they sacrificed the phono -10 dB input attenuator but provided a CD direct switch instead, with a dedicated small pcb for a shorter signal path. Sound wise I did not find much difference.
