MX110Z Phono Stage

Recently picked up a MX110Z.

My TT is hooked up to a MAGI Phonomenal phono stage.

I currently have all my inputs going into a custom made LR 1 Line Router and use the AUX input on the MX110Z

Would it make any sense connecting the MAGI into the phono stage of the 110Z?

If the cartridge is a MM type or high output MC designed to work with traditional phono inputs, it would certainly make sense to try it both ways and see which performs better.

Do NOT run the MAGI outputs into the phono input of the MX 110: The PHONO 1 input of the MX 110 has the phono preamp so you would not use an external phono preamp for this. You would simply connect the interconnect cables from the TT directly to the MX 110.

Don't use the "XTAL" input which is for crystal cartridges (obsolete for the most part). Use the input labeled "PHONO 1".

High grade 12AX7 tubes are used in the MX110's phono preamplifier section so it would certainly be well worth trying.

IF, however, the cartridge is MC (moving coil) type, you will not be able to do this; you will need to continue using the MAGI through the AUX just as you have been.
