MX113 L+R output connection

I have an MX113 on the way. I was doing a bit of online reading and found a note on Roger Russell's site that the L+R mono output (vs the L & R stereo outputs switched to mono) is a fixed output signal. I know some amps have volume controls, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried using this output with a mono integrated amp. I wanted to try the MX113 as part of a mono system and have some vintage integrated tube amps (Heathkit AA-13, AA-181, etc).

The 113's mono output is "fixed" only in relation to the L & R outs; unlike, say, the C-28, there's no separate mono level control. The mono out is just a summation of the L & R outputs, and hence affected by the volume and tone controls. My folks had a 112 (basically just an older 113) playing through an MC-60 into a real odd duck of a speaker for several years; it worked just fine that way.
