My 1st amp:Pioneer SA8800 or Marantz 1070?

Hey there everyone. I'm looking to purchase my first integrated amp from ebay.
There's a Pioneer SA8800 and a Marantz 1070 I'm interested in.

I think the Pioneer has a lot more power, but I kinda like the Marantz for some reason. As of this post, they seem to be going for around the same price, but the Marantz is ending sooner.

If anyone has any info/experience with either of these amps and would like to share it would be greatly appreciated.

i had a marantz 1080, built like a tank but it lacked power, seemed to have no bottom end. your choice depends on what kind of sound your looking for, if it was me i would take the pioneer.
 
In my opinion, SA-8800 all the way. It's every bit as good as its big brother the TOTL 9800, sans the MC pre-preamp.
 
I'd get the Pioneer.

the marantz is built like a tank, but indeed lacks power (well, unless you're using 100db+ sensitive speakers...), the pioneer is built as a tank as well, and will give your more power (so the speaker options aren't that limited...)

besides, the SA-8800 is a superb amp.

Thanks very much for all of your input. Buying my first integrated is quite a big decision, there are just so many choices out there!

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I'm going to be using a Marantz 6350Q TT w/ either KEF C35's or C55's which are rated at 4 ohms. (until I get better speakers)

I keep debating whether I should try and go for something cheaper and go with the SA8800 or jump in and try and to win a Kenwood KA9100 or something similar.

I really like the looks of Kenwoods in general, but the higher end models seem to sell for a ton on ebay.

I'm interested in hearing suggestions as to what would be the best integrated for me to get started with, and perhaps how much they go for, as I feel sometimes stuff on ebay is a tad overpriced.
