My $40 Yard Sale find!!

Those crossovers are not Altec, made in Japan but look quality.
Get the speakers home and have your girlfriend stand in front of them, exclaim how she has lost weight and looks fantastic, speakers will stay. Girls are always obsessing about there figures. LOL

Very nice score! These are not very common.
Yeah I can't find any info at all about the crossovers and apparently the BLACK University c15w's are more rare than the greens and I'm having a hard time finding anything out about them lol

Some speakers are like that. Not a lot out there. You might try just googling University speakers and it may lead you to some more info.I've seen those black ones somewhere on the net in searching for info on the 312 which I recently obtained.

I have been googling various combinations of the c15w and all I've found out so far about the blacks is that they are more rare and were made when the plant moved and the casing or basket is slightly shorter than the greens. A couple of folks claim they're better made and can take more power than the greens, but couldn't remember where they had heard that

Well...I really like what I see.Is it possible to get some pics of the cabinets.I'm a sucker for big 60s furniture speaker cabs.
I'm trying to get over to storage maybe tomorrow and take some better pics with a better camera and angles

Guess you didn't hear about the woman who thought it meant "Lots Of Love" and replied to several texts in an inappropriate fashion; for example, "Just heard of your mother's passing. Will miss her. LOL"
Yeah I was one of those at first but figured it out quickly before I made such a bonehead mistake lol

I bought a couple of the University C15W speakers from an old friend, one black one and one green one. NOS, still in the boxes. I could find NO difference in them whatsoever other than color. They measured exactly the same and sounded exactly the same. I auditioned them in a University S6 bass horn cabinet and was very unimpressed with their abilities, no matter where I crossed them. Ended up selling them.

They ARE impressive to look at, though. Especially the green ones. It's a shame to ever hide them. Really beautiful speakers.

I stumbled on a pair of these last winter. The treated cloth surrounds had become rock hard, making these giant drivers nothing more than glorified mid range speakers.

I've often wondered how they would have sounded with some really compliant cones? Like, transplant in some Altec 416 cones? Measure, and season to taste!
