My Altec 604e build.

But is the distance between the port and the basket of the speaker the same changing the traveling distance of the sound. Is the depth of the cabinet the same? Those to parameters might change the tuning a bit. Another thing to think about is what frequencies will be coming out the port. Thats why some manufactures choose a tuned labyrinth instead because the can line the labyrinth with absorbing material to keep mid range and upper bass sounds from being exited through the port causing anomalies in the important fundamental frequencies for a lot of instruments.

There's always next Spring. I just finished a bunch of projects that were years old this summer/fall. I am shutting the garage shop (for the most part) till Spring. Got to make room for the cars. Keep them warm and out of the snow. Be sure and subscribe to your post, so you can come back here and let us know how it's going.

You can borrow some of my garage space if you build me a nice set of cabinets like those. I'm selling the Vette today to a buyer in Tenn.

I've had the car for the last 42 years and "made it my own" over that time. Screw the stock parts when after market is so much better. Still, that is where the value is for some people. Originally it lived life a quarter mile at a time before I did the restoration. Then it became too nice to really enjoy.

Looks like you built 3 cabinets there. (far right of photo)

As far as the regular plywood goes, you can always veneer it to doll them up. A few nice wood varieties are still fairly affordable if you shop around.

The third one is actually a Wharfdale clone, I call it the 'Linton MkII'

The fronts are good, they'll get a garnet shellac or maybe one of those monocoat finishes from Rubio. I'm going to paint the sides and back a warm gray.

That took me a minute to digest. I had to look up 'valve shrouding'. I had an idea.

That sounds like an entirely streetable 12 second car to me. Built to breathe, built to spin. Do think it's putting out 500 hp?
