My babies are back!!

I've never seen or heard a pair but they look like something I would try if I got the chance. From all your recent activity I suspect you are probably suffering from the same problem I have around here at the moment speakers piled everywhere.
 
I have the best wife in the stereo universe. Two pair of speakers are apart awaiting caps and a woofer, now getting ready to build a pair of Model 19's. Iv'e taken over the basement. Meanwhile I read the want ads daily and she says "call em, go look at em and work your magic"!! She says the stereo hobby is alot better than hangin out at the bar with the guys.

Just think how she will feel when you get to combine hanging out at the bar (in the basement, with the stereo blaring) with the guys!

The woofer your waiting on should be there any day. Glad to see another AKer got the model 19 cabs.
 
I have 4 RtR 280 DR's - two in front and two rear - downstream of my vintage Audio Research SP-3a, two D-75's and audio pulse for special effects, all purchased new back in the mid 70's and well maintained over the years. I bought a pair of the ESR-15's at the same time and still regret the day I parted with them. Still hoping to correct that error in judgment when a good pair becomes available.

For now I have to get my electrostatic buzz from my Stax ear speakers - two vintage SR-X 2's and two SR-X 3's powered by a 4 plug, 6 prong, custom rack mount tube amp Julius Futterman built for me many years ago.

What I like most about the 280 DR's is that I have several hundred foreign pressings, half-speed mastered and direct to disk recordings from the 70's and early 80's to tube feed, one by one, to the speakers. Now, after so many years, I must somehow make amends for ever parting with the ESR-15's, and find another pair to top off the front two 280 DR's as they once were.

My RTR's are of the non-electrostatic type but I sure do love that RTR sound!!! :thmbsp:

Parky50, I remember reading that post when I first became a member. I have another pair of RtR's, the 600D Corinthian Column. Vintage 1976. I threw away the two 12" woofers when the surround went bad. That was in 1985 and I was not informed of what to do when surrounds go bad.
I'm still sick about that!!
I bought replacement drivers from RtR and they never sounded the same. Now I think they sound like dogsh*t.
Based on what you did, I am going to reserect those puppys. Thanks for the inspiration!!

I have a pair of minty vintage RtR exp-12's. I inherited them from my grandfather. He was a concert pianist and shopped around for a month before he chose them for his system. I figured after inheriting them I should try them out. His ears were amazing so I figured they probably sounded pretty nice...I have connected them to their original pairing, a Marantz 2240B and they sound fantastic.....better than the JBL4312A monitors or the JBL 730's I had hooked up. I have used them with my carver tfm and an HK pm665. I have had other speakers come and go...but these seem to find their way back to my primary set.

I don;t know alot about the company though...not much info out there. great speaker.
 
Looking good. have you had them up and running with the NHT subs yet? If so, how do you have everything configured, like what's powering what?
 
Well, every time I hear RTR, I am always thinking, what could be a better complement with them than a REEL TO REEL machine?

I see that someone has a ReVox B77. I know that if I get RTR speaks, I got the R2R to drive them!

Those are very ponderous lookin speaks, my friend! I love 'em!
