My Barzilaywave project

Wow Denny, you have a prize with those TAD 1601 woofers.
I read the LHF thread you linked to and was impressed by a couple of statements about them, the deep bass response and the quality of the finished speakers they were used in. One owner stated that he had sold a pair of monitors (the 2002?) for over $13,000 :yikes:.

The specifications for the woofers are here. Any advice I could offer about enclosures is sort of moot, considering the value of the woofers. I did notice that the recommended enclosure size is from 4 cu. ft. to 10.8 cu. ft.. Hopefully someone with experience with these woofers will offer up some advice on enclosure design.

What type of amp are you going to use on them? Since they are rated at 97db the choices are large. I bet these would really mate well with the Edgarhorn/JBL setups that Ron and Nate have.

Good luck on the build, I'd really like to hear them after you're done.

IIRC the Barzilay cabs you have are 5^3 ft and should match up well with the Tannoy recommendations

I am thinking about making some risers for the bottom to bring the internal volume up some. From my calculations I am right at the limit for what will work right now. I will cut out the bottom of the cabinet where the risers are.

I looked to see what matching compression drivers they used with these and the prices would blow your mind. The last set of TD-4001's that sold on Ebay went for over $2,500! Of course they were mint in their original boxes. :D

Are you considering fiber fill to increase the effective volume? Not a recommendation, just a question - I don't know much about speaker design yet but am learning.

Hi Dennydog, I just stumbled upon this thread. I used the same cabinets for my speakers. They are Barzily cabs with Lamda TD15 woofers. The Edgarhorns have JBL2441 CD on the back. And the tweets are ESS AMTs. IMG_3306.jpeg
