My Big Fat Phono Pre

At 18x19 inches and a hefty 40 pounds, Musical Fidelity’s kW MC/MM phono pre could be mistaken for a power amp. It's a statement piece from Musical Fidelity's kW line up circa 2005. Nice feature set including RIAA and IEC equalization options. Moving from the built-in phono pre in my Musical Fidelity A3.2 CR preamp (which is no slouch), the improvement was significant and eye opening.

Posted this over on the Haven but decided to post here as well since I don't see much discussion or reference to the kW line in general (and even less on the kW phono pre) so I'm guessing there aren't a lot of them floating around out there.

Nice. I use a Clearaudio Nano phono stage that is about the size of a pack of smokes.

I'm guessing all that stuff in your stage results in that "inky black" background we all desire.

All I can say is, why on earth? For such a tiny signal? Wouldn't mind hearing one, though. I like the looks. It would be just the thing for that giant gold plated 700 pound T.T. I saw earlier.

Very nice piece of gear OP , I’m a fan of MF owning the NuVista M3 Integrated and the TriVista 21 Dac.
