My current setup - complete newbie

You have made an excellent start into vintage audio. That SAE amp should power those Ohm F's nicely. I have never heard a pair, would love to though some day. You expressed an interest in tubes. I would suggest starting out with a tube preamplifier, as a tube pwoer amp that is powerful enough for the F's will cost/weigh a ton! Just my thoughts.

N00b? Surely you didn't just decide to get into the hobby and pick that stuff up over a weekend. Or do you mean a 4 year n00b like myself? Pardon my sceptisim. :-)

I got the Marantz 2245 and Jensen Model 4s the same day from Craigslist. The Technics turntable was given to me years back and it was collecting dust in my basement. Then came the Marantz tape deck....cause I still had my old mix tapes, then came the reel to reel cause it was $40 on Let it Go. Lastly the Ohm’s, I bought the Ohm F’s sight unseen from a garage sale advert which you could barely make out the “Ohm” logo in the pic (found out they were F’s when I picked them up, tested them....broken) then found a pair of Ohm 3xO’s to hold be over until I could find someone to fix the F’s. All of this over the course of 4 months.....and because “I have this turntable, I should use it” I told my wife. The SAE amp came with the Ohm F’s “cause they used to be connected”

The SAE is what used to power the Ohm F’s. After the restore, which is more of a restomod the Ohm’s will be 6 ohm (rather than 4) and be in to 100-150 watt range. I will most likely use the SAE again to power them.

Wow. As was hinted at it can take years and a boat load of lesser equipment to match what you have. Do you live alone? Can you move speakers around without getting yelled at. Speaker placement can really change things.

Usually it's safe to move existing speakers, but replacing them with larger speakers... you're just asking for it.

You’re gonna love this....my wife put her foot down and said we’re keeping the Ohm F’s (which are furniture size) so I’ve got the all clear for audio equipment with one caveat, I have to sell something of mine to fund the audio....so I sold a few watches.

New addition: Jolida 102CRC running as an amp

Please post pics of the reel to reel ... always had a lust for one ever since seeing Pulp Fiction. What do you listen to that has been recorded on it?

I had my 3XO's re-foamed, new tweeters, and voiced for a more neutral sound. I love them. They have pretty much displaced the Linn's which is quite an accomplishment. I would love to hear some F's.

The F’s are incredible in every way. I’m still sorting the right receiver. Even with only 45 watts they sound amazing.
