I'd love to see how it was done, even if it's kinda Rube Goldberg. That's always been a sore spot with me. The no-automatic return problem, I mean!
 
It looks interesting, but I can't see much of it in the video. I could use one of these for my table with the busted cueing.
 
That's ingenious! Doesn't shut off the power but the main thing is it keeps the stylus from burnin' up on the record label, and vice versa! I saw that link on your site that said Rest in Peace Technics. As far as I know those Technics 1210's are still being built, but the cost has gone up to about $800.00.:sigh:
 
wrt the technics rip link, wordpress threw that in. as far as i know, the venerable sl-1200mk2 is still in production. and i do so hope it continues to be.

the basic mechanism can be retrofitted to any turntable with some tinkering. i didnt want the use of sticky tape to hold anything down, hence the way its designed to fit around the vta ring of the sl-1200mk2. the servo's quite torque-y. ive put cork under the wood the prevent it from marring the finish. but if one doesnt mind sticky tape holding it down, then it would possibly work on any turntable. the bits just need to be positioned properly so the servo can move the cue lever.

what would be ideal is to make it universal so it can be used on any turntable ala the thorens or AT units using the electronics of my V1 which is the idea behind my V3.

servos are handy things.. and with the proper application of thought and design, will even pour you a Guinness. :)

Just wanted to revive this thread.

I was fortunate to be able to purchase one of asmd's 1200 end of record tone arm lifts and I have to say I could not be happier with its operation. :)

It does not do any damage to the deck, and once aligned it does just what it was designed to do. Though crude in it's looks (Prototype industrial...) I love it.

My 1200 MKII is now back in my main rig and I could not be happier.

Am glad you're enjoying Vincent.
Will be cobbling a few more together that is less "prototype" looking and more finished. (Granted, Vincent got one of the two protoypes i built. The other resides on my table. )
