MY EV Sentry III"s are for sale in Italy!

I was very surprised to find my pictures of my EV Sentry III's being used in a for sale ad from Italy. Somebody is running a scam! I posted the pictures on Audiokarma right after I brought them home and no place else. These are MY speakers in MY kitchen!!! This is rather disturbing...

Have you been sleep walking to Italy? :scratch2:

This is what Google translate gives:

SELL PAIR SPEAKER BRAND Electro-Voice Sentry III MODEL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WHICH IS BEAUTY MECHANIC, PERFECTLY WORKING. PHOTO AND 'GENERIC AND DOES NOT REPRESENT MY SPEAKER BUT THE MODEL IN MY POSSESSION. FOR INFO CONTACT ME AT...

Hey, at least your photography skills are recognized worldwide. :smoke:

The asking price on the link I found my stolen pix on is close to three times what I paid for those. Add to that there isn't another pair of blonde Sentry III's anywhere with the SEQ that have surfaced. I have no plans of ever selling them (I don't even want to move them again) but I wonder what they'd fetch in the Japanese market? There isn't a single scratch or ding on them.

Alway's a chance they are just using your pic,s, it does happen often.

By the way, what is the species of "blond" wood EV used?

Pics are swiped all day long on the web. The seller flat out admitted they were not pics of their speakers. Much more likely it's just someone stealing pics rather than some type of scam.

I too am interested in the wood, being a wood guy of sorts. Can't see much of it in these pics. Can you post (or steal? heehee) a pic of the side?

I'm in the studio at the moment and don't have any pix of them on the PC's in here. When I get a chance I'll post them all.

I'm not a true wood expert; I know plywood, particle board and a few others. I'm guessing oak but am open to more educated suggestions. I'm running the high end with a BGW 250C and the low with my just recapped BGW 750B. To say they sound great is an understatement, that SEQ with the port plugs is allegedly good for 28hz at the bottom and I believe it to be true. I experimented with Behringer and Ashly active crossovers but the SEQ delivers the best sound with the least amount of fux0ring around (I could have used my RTA to get a true flat response curve but wasn't feeling that ambitious at the time plus the SEQ is what EV intended to be used with them).

I'll post some pictures of the room they're in now after I finish putting all the leftovers from the complete studio installation away. To me these are the holy grail of EV speakers.

If I recall correctly 29" wide, 35" high on the optional base 23" deep.

Hi BobbyBluz,

Kind of annoying that someone would use your pix for their personal gain, but man WOW what a set.. They are beautiful. I would love to get my hands on some EVs like that. They just scream quality.

great pix man, super envious!!!! :)

The beveled top trim looks very much like the wood used on the "standard" finish
less the tinted topcoat applied to compliment the top and side panels.

Mine had a nasty gouge on one of top corners which necessitated removing all the finish and starting fresh, a little time consuming but turned out well.

I would hazard a guess that the blond finish was a pretty small run even perhaps a custom request that turned into a limited run.

I'm still not sure just what the actual wood species used is?

I'm going to say maple. Fine grain with the kind of shapes you would see in maple. In that pic of the tops, the right side of the left speaker has a bit of quilted or curly grain which is also a dead giveaway.

Very nice!

The asking price on the link I found my stolen pix on is close to three times what I paid for those.

This is not a surprise. Pricing in Europe is often higher than in the USA, even allowing for factors of 2 or 3. On the other hand, EV is a rare brand in Italy. Some European brands would logically be more common and cost less comparatively.

Gorgeous speakers - listen with pride!

I have had people use my pics in their ads before and I get upset. I am not a professional photographer but I have sold some of my work to people I know that liked my work enough to pay for it.
The last time that it happened to me was in my own backyard so to speak with an item that I sold the week before and had edited my ad as sold. I usually leave the sold ad up for about a week basically to let people know that my items do sell so that they will know my prices are considered to be fair.
I contacted the seller and told him that he did not have my permission to use my pics to sell his item. His response was rude, ignorant and abusive and it was evident that he was not familiar with copyright law.
Even though he was rude I got back to him and explained to him that I was concerned about my reputation in the local marketplace with people possibly thinking I was trying to sell them again or I was playing around with prices, etc.
I asked that all I wanted him to do since he was being such a jerk was to indicate in his ad that the pics of the item were not actually his but similar and I would let it go.
He came back with more insults and profanity and threats.
II decided to post an ad that indicated that the item that was listed by another seller was using pictures that were not the actual item and that he was using pictures from the internet. He then removed the pics from his ad and used some pics from his phone.
I take this stuff personally since I submit high quality and multiple angles of the items I sell to show their condition and/or quality.
The fact that this chap is across the pond and indicated that they were not actually of the item that he was selling wouldn't really bother me. I might in a joking manner contact him and tell him that i was the individual that took the original shots and if he did sell them, get him to contact me for a royalty check - lol

While I am somewhat proud that my pix were used on the other hand I'm pissed off because I seriously doubt the person in Italy has a pair of blonde Sentry III's complete with the SEQ and bass plugs. Italy isn't rural Wisconsin though so the potential <s> victim </s> customer will have to take up the differences with the seller. Maple? Ok...

Nobody has made the mistake of threatening me in quite some time now, the last time that happened the person who did it quickly learned I wasn't from around here. I lived in an urban war zone far too long to be intimidated by a total amateur. Sadly there are those too ignorant to comprehend that making a physical threat to some people is interpreted as a declaration of genuine all-out war. When he realized he'd started something he couldn't finish he quickly apologized.
