My Harbeth C7ES-3 story...

So......

After hooking up the Gungnir & 6000CDT, I decided to try out the LFD again and that little bit more fullness I mentioned turned into more fullness difference than the Belles. Before the Belles was about 90-95% of the LFD but now it looks like it’s about 80-85% so LFD getting more thought/time in.

The Rogue comes Tuesday so that should add some interesting comparisons over next week.
 
I've always liked the fact that the Rogue products are built right here and that they provide good customer service. Never cared for the sound, however.

Did you hear the CM II with upgraded tubes? What was your impression? So far it's very impressive... I have a Mullard 12au7 in middle preamp section and Telefunken 12ax7's in those slots as well.

My theme seems to be great hand built amps from US and UK, which I'll end up with one of them
 
I've never heard the III but I have played with the II. It had the stock tubes. I'm never (never say never, I know) doing the tube rolling thing again. I found the amp to be dry, noisy and fatiguing over time. Tried several speakers. I really didn't like the noisy phono stage. I far prefer the sound of a lower power, even a S.E.T tube amp.

No, but I'm about to. My dealer is sending me a Mistral 2018 Plus. He said that it's on par with the LE IV or V with a killer phono stage.

I have four pairs of British speakers, along with my M&K S1B. I have loved Brit speakers since 1999.

I hope Kray has time to look for a used solid state Luxman. My DM1400 set loves the R-1120.

End rant.
 
I loved the CM once the tubes were right. Mullards are definitely where it is at! I would add the Luxman L-505UXII to your shortlist. Though not cheap, it is a fantastic amp. I am currently running a Plinius Huatonga. I will be posting my thoughts on it soon. But if you like authoritative Bass, the Plinius has it in spades.

one thing I love in general and tubes provide in spades is nice big 3D sound. I’ve yet to find a solid state that can compare to tubes on that
 
@kray, The newer Marantz and Accuphase integratedsas well as the Luxman I suggested may have you rethinking that statement. While not necessarily as warm in tone, they add back a bit of solid state accuracy. All three are more on the warm side however.

well once I sell off all my extra gear I’ll start testing out more solid states. Starting with the Luxman.
 
So. This is a new record. All these screws (18) to open the Audiolab 6000CDT transport. Wanted to take a look inside and apply some extra soundcoat I had laying around.

Kind of sad that we are now resorting to taking pictures of the number of screws we take out to remove a cover.......some of us may need a 12-step program.
