My introduction to Sansui

New to Audiokarma and this forum. I'm getting back into some, what's now vintage stereo gear. By no means an Audiofile, just love the look of the silver face gear from, say 1979 to 1983. History: I had new in 1981 a Technics SA-828. Yes, it was a big boy with all the bells and whistles. Still have it, but the dimension control is not working. I am tinkering around with it now trying to get it up and running. In the meantime, I have purchased a Sansui matched set, the A-7, T-7 & RG-7. Each piece has some minor issue such as burned out bulbs/LED's. I am waiting for parts to arrive in the mail for a hopeful complete fix of all 3 ps. In the meantime, I have noticed the Sansui A-60 and matching T-60. I find I am anal about the components matching in size (width) as my vintage Technics 828 matches NOTHING. It has been a love/hate with that Receiver! So, now my question is what Equalizer/Echo/Reverb unit would go with the Sansui 60 series of components? I understand the 7 series I now posses is a fairly low end series. Is the 60 series better?
Thanks all for you help.

Welcome aboard. The only eq's and reverbs that match finish, form factor and general styling of the A-60 and T-60 would be

SE-8 EQ/RTA
SE-9 EQ/RTA (motorized sliders with auto EQ function)
RG-7 combo EQ and bucket brigade type reverb, which you already have.

Note all the above are available in both silver and black versions, needless to say you'd be looking for the silver ones. Luckily, they are more common as silver was much more popular at the time these components were new.

There is no stand alone reverb unit that is an exact match, closest would be a silver RA-990 but it was made to match a different Sansui product line that came out in 82 and has a painted silver (not brushed aluminum) front panel and different button style. Also not too easy to find as they weren't big sellers. There is a SE-8X which has a silver painted front panel and red LED lighted slider caps, but is otherwise identical to the RG-8 I think there was also a RG-7X restyled the same way as the SE-8X.

Other components that matched this line include:

RS-7 remote receiver unit (requires RS-7T handheld remote and inter component ribbon cabling to work)
D-300M and D-550M casette decks (the latter is a three head type)
AT-20 audio program timer
AX-3 audio consollete (essentially a mini mixing console)

All the above again being offered in both black and silver. The last two are half width units, meant to be set side by side to equal a full width component in a rack or on a shelf.

Thank you Sansuiman, I do like that SE-8. I also found an RG-707 but it only kind of matches the T-7 & A-7 I have now. I do find the 5 band equalizer very limiting on the RG-7. I am thinking a 7 band would the minimum I would want in the future. The hunt is on! For me the journey has always been the best part.
