My kid the detective

grillebilly

Empty Head
Thought I would share this story where good prevails!
My daughter is going to school at VA Tech. She is renting a townhouse with 3 other girls. They were having a birthday party for her and another room mate with about 30 or so "friends". One of the girls went to her room to get something from her purse, which was in the back of a closet. It was missing. She was rightfully pissed off, so they threw everyone out.
After a look around it was discovered another purse was gone as well as other valuables.
That night they all got their heads together to try to figure out who was the thief. It seems one couple was seen in every room items were stolen from. They got on Facebook and found out who they were, and who their friends were. After calling around they found out where she lived (a dorm on campus). The next morning they went to her dorm room and knocked on the door. She had just woke up. My daughter then told her about the thefts, and she said how terrible it is that that would happen at a party. One of her friends looked in her room and there was her purse on the floor, and another missing purse on a hook. The police were called, she was arrested, and other items were found at her boyfriends house, so he was arrested. Both were charged with felonies. It seems her dorm had been victimized by thefts many times and items as well as drugs were found in her room. They will be expelled as well.
Don't you love it when bad people get what's coming to them and justice prevails?

Someone's parents ought to be proud of the education their kids were getting on their dime........:D

Good job by your daughter and her friends!!!!:thmbsp::thmbsp:

(I have a son in college. Sounds like his kind of girl!!!)

Glad they were caught. I hope they can turn their lives around rather than getting on the prison-crime-prison-crime merry-go-round for which the exit gets harder and harder to find.

My thoughts exactly!

I would bet most people feel this way. No one wants a young life ruined by bad choices. But I have no compassion for thieves, especially ones who don't need to steal to survive. They are not victims. They did it for fun. They deserve to be punished, probably more severely than they will be.
They would of kept on doing it until they were caught. Hopefully they can turn things around. But right now they need a good whippin'.

No disagreement with anything you've said. :thmbsp:

You should be proud of your daughter! She did the whole school community a favor, catching the thieves like that, and stopping the thefts. Also nice that (at least some of) the stolen goods were recovered.

I also hope the culprits don't end up doing the prison-crime merry-go-round, but if they do, it is their own fault. Their parents probably also played a role. By the time someone reaches college age, it's a little late to be learning these things the first time; basic respect and "thou shalt not steal" should be taught in early childhood, but hopefully they will still be able to learn and change.
