My new obsession

kaplang

Works for me !
Recently I have been in the market for turntables that need repair. I have purchased 3 in the past month. A Garrard LAB 80 (Craigs list), A dual 1218 (AK) and a Sansui SR-2050C (eBay). One of my requirements is it has to have an original wooden base or I won't even consider it. The other is it must be complete and no cracks in the dust cover if it has one.

All are now working perfectly except for the Garrad that needs a new idler wheel.

Good focus! I love bringing the old heavy plinth suspension tables back to life. Especially the Thorens and AR tables.

This was my second Lab 80. I think they are really good TTs. Built like a tank and the dark wood plinths are beautiful!

Have you tried these guys?

Oh and I just saw a NOS idler on eBay. Better hurry if you want it.

brought back to life...!

they look great!!!! there is something that I dig as well, that old vintage look.OLD STUFF LOOKS REALLY KOOL when mixed with new stuff too. I wish I had the mechanical ability....:thmbsp:

I'd have to say that I think you've done quite well. Enjoy the vinyl you play on them, and who knows, you might acquire a new hobby-outlet flipping such nice vintage tables?! (at a very nice profit?)

A few months from now, we might see you sporting a brand new Galibier Design Stelvio Table! Mark
