Hi everyone. I'm a new member here. I understand this place has its share of ADS fans
. I just figured I would pass on my story to some people who might actually be able to appreciate it.
I purchased a pair of ADS L570s (series 1) along with a Yamaha receiver and other components back in the 80s. It was my first "real" stereo system. I loved that system and used it for many years. I passed on all of the components with the exception of the speakers and the turntable some time ago, but as I had purchased a new home theater/music system I didn't feel like I had an appropriate place to set up the ADS speakers any more and I put them back in their boxes and stored them in a closet where they have stayed for years now.
I recently replaced my now 20 year-old 5.1 receiver and decided I would try to repurpose it and pair it with my long-stored ADS speakers. Well, I set everything up in my home office, connected the receiver and speakers to my iMac through a desktop Mackie Audio interface that I also use for some home recording and have been grinning for days as I stream music and revisit my music collection that is ripped to FLAC and stored on an external hard drive.
I had forgotten how much I enjoyed these speakers. I may replace them at some point, but for now I feel like I made a great new purchase. It's even better because I am the original owner and know they have been treated well. You would never know they are approximately 40 years old.
Now back to enjoying the music.
