My old Parasound is in a pawn shop!

Not audio per say. But I had an Aria Pro II "The Cat" guitar that I had to pawn a few years back. Paid on it for 8 months or so, then lost it. 2 months later, it came back in th shop. I grabbed it immediately.

Unfotunatly I ended up pawning it again, paid on it for 9 months or so, then lost it. Figured it would show up again. But for the last few years the pawn shop sells all the good gear to a middleman and they resell it. So most likely it won't show up again. But ya never know.]

Moral of the story, don't pawn crap, it costs too darn much if you like your gear.

This is not an audio equipment recapture story, but somewhat related:

My first Marshall amp (2204 tube combo) was purchased for $925 in 1983. Sold for $650 in 1992 to local blues guitarist. Found in pawn shop in 1999; purchased for $350. Sold for $950 in 2003!

My second Marshall (50 watt Jubilee series stack); purchased used in 1989 for $1400. Traded for ADA MP-1 tube preamp in 1992 (bad trade for me ). Found in pawn shop in 2002 ; purchased for $900 CDN. Traded for Legend (Larrivee) OM guitar in 2005 ($1400 value).

But here's my 2¢, for what it's worth.

Some may recall a couple of years back I had gotten a sweetheart deal on a Nakamichi SR4a (or something like that... It was a 60WPC STASIS receiver) and I thought it was rather nice. However, I was going into separates sort of full-force and it mostly sat on the sidelines. One day, I met a fellow and we got to discussing audio. He was not quite as fortunate as me, and he was suffering with an old Sansui receiver that hardly worked. So, I gave him the Nakamichi, along with a very nice Yamaha CDP I was not using.

Several months later, as I was making my rounds at the pawn shops, I saw the Nak sitting on the shelf- $100 they were asking for it. I got to talking to the owner of the pawn shop, and mentioned that the receiver was, at one time, one of my own. She then told me that the fellow was nearly at tears at having to sell it. I bought it from the shop, and brought it back to the fellow I gave it to. He hugged me so hard I thought I would snap in two.
