My Onkyo Grand Integra and Luxman Stack!

My Big Onk stack I used for bedroom two channel listening.

From bottom to top,

Onkyo Grand Integra M-510 Amplifier
Onkyo Grand Integra M-508 Amplifier
Luxman C-02 Preamp
Rotel RCD-1072 CDP
Pioneer Elite Region Free Multi-Player (need it for SACD and DVD-A)
Dynaco PAS-3x as Tube Buffer (not shown in the picture)

Speaker for listening : Carver Amazing Platinum MKIV in oak finishing.

I am not bi-amping the Carver Amazing since Grand Onk can push it to the limit. I am using the M-508 for two channel with Sonus Faber Concertino Monitor for night time listening.

P.S. I don't mean an insult to the good folks in AK but I have to put the text in the picture so the potential eBay scammers don't use my picture to fraud folks on eBay or Craligslist. I hate to do that but I don't want anyone falling into con artists hands. :yes: May be I am a little too concerned about others?...:scratch2:

The Luxman goes nicely with the Onkyo. You need to add one of the big Luxman amps to your stack though!:yes:

Thanks guys! I used to have Luxman M-05 and C-05 combo but that was many years ago. I kinda regret selling them.

Nice stack. That onkyo M510 should be shown off with pride. Here's some style shots of my 510. In fact, I now own TWO of the M-510s. One of which was the broken one that was floating arond on ebay, then on agon, and finally ended up with me.

I love the advertising blurb screen printed directly onto the front case.

They gotta put it somewhere right :yes: My first choice wouldn't have been the front of the amp though. :lmao: However, I know they weren't the only ones to do so with a TOTL amp. The Luxman M-6000 has the same kind of advert blurb on the front. See below:

I posted about the Onkyo in the repair shop previously, turns out to be a problem with the output amplifier section. Not sure what exactly that means.

FWIW, my intention wasn't to hijack this thread. I just love seeing the M510 so I thought I'd share some pics of mine to give it some spotlight. The MX-10000 is definitely one of the very few amps still on my "want" list. I suppose I have a thing for the nice brushed metal face, huge meters, and high-gloss veneered side panels. A thing of beauty those amps.

To the OP, that stack is quite impressive. I love luxman as well, and I wonder why you sold the C-05 and M-05, I would have held on to those with dear life.

In fact, seeing your stack, makes me want to start being more active in looking for the Luxman M-05 and C-05 combo because the preamp does match really well with the M510. Unfortunately, Onkyo never made a matching Preamp for this amp, so getting something to match sonically, and also visually can be a bit difficult. Based on your pic, the luxman pre seems to match aesthetically almost perfect. Any thoughts on the sound?

The Luxman blurb is a bit more subtle and technically-oriented than the Onkyo, which reads like something from the ad department. Both are strange screen-printed directly on the case, though. I'll say this for the BPC era - at least they started putting those on easily-removable stickers. :lmao:

I probably should post my Onk M510 pictures in large size. But I am more of the listener than photographer so I didn't take several pictures of it. However, I have a couple more pictures of it and I'll post them later.

Your Big Onk is really nice and I believe is in better cosmetic shape than mine. :thmbsp:

Speaking of MX10000, I hope Mark sees this thread and will post his Yammy pictures in here too.

Regarding Luxman, I've traded M-05 and C-05 for some other Vintage gears. Big Luxman was very nice sounding pair and rare but I needed more power than what M-05 could offer. And C-05 was a sophisticated pre than C-02 but I am happy with C-02. One day, I will get a pair of old Luxman added to back to my collection but it'll most likely collecting dust as many other amps.

I think C-02 and M-510 combo sounds great since Luxman Duo B networks works really well in the pre. :yes:

How about your Marantz 1000 compared to the Big Onk? :scratch2:
