My open baffle system

Well, we moved over the winter and have finally settled into the new place. My dream of building a dedicated listening room in the basement has been put on a hold for the foreseeable future since I'm spending the money to work on some drainage issues in the yard ($11k+... :(). In trying to minimize my system's footprint, I decided to keep the Apogee Duetta Signatures boxed up for now and went with a pair of Spatial Audio M2 Turbo S open baffle speakers. I also was using a NuPrime ST-10 power amplifier so I could keep it in the TV case and to keep the heat down in a room that has no air conditioning (if you look closely, you may still see it in the picture - bottom right shelf), but wanted my big boy amps back in the system so the Audio Research VM220's came out of their boxes.

Components:
Speakers: Spatial Audio M2 Turbo S
Amps: Audio Research VM220 monoblocks running KT-120 tubes and NuPrime ST-10
Pre: Audio Research LS25
DAC: Audio Research DAC-7
Phono: Audio Research PH-3 with VAS SUT
TT: Well Tempered Amadeus with Dynavector 17D3 LOMC cartridge
CD: Meta Research Laser 1
R2R: Pioneer RT-707
ASUS latop for Foobar duty

Thanks for looking.

great looking system. Love the matching Acoustic Research stuff.

I assume these speakers are fairly efficient. Have you played around with lower wattage amps?

No, not really. I talked to Clayton Shaw at Spatial Audio and discussed running the speakers with low power amps. He actually cautioned against it. Though the speakers are efficient, they're 4 Ohm speakers so one needs an amp that can drive them to get the most out of them.

Gotcha. That's a lot of cone to control too
