My Pioneer System

Very nice! What speakers do you have? HPM-100s?

Thanks for the words; unfortunately, Pioneer speakers of the same era (late 70's) are difficult to find here in Brazil; recently, I found one selling a pair of CS-R590, but I'm afraid these aren't the same level of my equipment (opinions...).
Anyway, I'm using now a pair of JBL's ES-90 and, as I said before, looking for a good turntable, once more, any opinions?

Oi Dart, tudo bem?

Welcome to AK. I traveled a fair amount down to Brasil quite often but before I got into this hobby. What brands of audio gear do you mostly find down there?

Muito bem, obrigado, Drugolf !

Well, vintage gear we have Pioneer, Marantz, Sansui, but not so easy to find in very good conditions, like mine; and prices are high...for example, a Marantz 2500 has a price tag reaching US$ 3.500, a Pioneer receiver SX1980 at US$ 4,000 or more; my Pioneer setup took me 2 years to get complete, my other system, Marantz, took me 3 years (2100/1152DC/300DC/EQ-20/5010/5030B/6170), considering pieces available in local market (some specialized stores, the ML-equivalent to eBay, etc)
Bottom line: in Brazil, this hobby demands a considerable amount of dollars, much more than in US, for example; so you got to be a serious vintage HiFi admirer, as I am; when I buy equipment, I don't sell it anymore!

From one Pionerd to another - Love that vintage set up__:thumbsup:. I'm thinking a PL-530 would be a suitable addition although the 630 has more silver to it so may match better. Just my two cents.

That's a beautiful rack of vintage SILVER FACED Pioneer gear there, Dart! And a reel-2-reel, too! That puts an exquisite finishing touch to the entire stack. Like the others, I was fully expecting you to list HPM-100s as your speaker complement, so the JBL towers came as a bit of a shock. Once you explained the cost of vintage gear in Brazil, your choice was quite understandable.

Just out of curiosity, how did you arrive at your equalizer curve settings? Are the JBLs THAT lacking in low bass and high treble? I would have assumed that the ES90s would have been much closer to "Harman Target Curve" au naturel, requiring only a little massage for room correction. (Interesting article on the Target Curve, room correction, et al here: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?39134-Harman-Target-Curve)

Thanks for posting that beautiful gear.

Man, this is becoming an obsession for me, if someday a pair of HPM-100's shows up here, I'll get them at once!
As for the equalizer settings, in fact there's no such lack of bass and treble with ES-90's, the curve was set just for the photograph (as we see the "10-10" display in watch's photographs).
Thanks.
