My Realistic receiver collection...

Victory is mine!
I thought I'd show off my Realistic receiver collection. It's what I consider to be their most "significant" offerings. Sure, I'm missing a couple, such as the beloved STA-2200 (which I once owned, but sold for some reason!)...

My Realistic receiver collection:
STA-2100 (Mint)
STA-2080 (8 out of 10)
STA-2000 (Mint)
STA-2290 (Mint)
STA-90 (Mint)
STA-52b (8 out of 10, This is only significant to me personally as its the first piece of audio equipment I ever bought at age 12)

Someday, I plan on doing a review on all the receivers and my "significant" Realistic speaker collection!

But for now, lets admire and reflect back to a time when Radio Shack was capable of producing quality audio...

We had had a realistic receiver in the family room growing up and i can still remember the glow of the lights and the meters moving- good stuff! You have a nice collection, indeed! As a teenager I spent much time in shack stores buying cassettes, cleaners, and who knows what else. Never had the money to buy any equipment but it was always nice browsing through their thick catalog.
 
You use the word "significant" a lot. Should we consider these your significant others? Should you consider them as significant others?:D:D

Significant is an interesting term, agreed. I have a few myself and they may be "significant" to me, though maybe not you. ;) That is a nice group you have.

STA-95 and STA-7 are the ones I like (because I have them).

Lol, I know... I've tried to collect the best based on build quality, best sounding and opinions offered here. Interestingly, the worst sounding of the bunch would be the STA-2100 and the best sounding (hands down) is the STA-90, as evidenced in pics that its currently being used.

The STA-95 is a great receiver, I've previously owned 2. The STA-7 is very cool too but wow, expensive on ebay. Its tough finding one locally in good condition.

Plus, now space is becoming an issue...:)
 
Beautiful collection you have there, truly their best IMO. I really like the shelving too, it adds to the beauty.

I would have been a very happy kid if I had a 52b (or anything even close to it) when I was twelve.
 
You guys are raising the value of Realistic receivers. They are very nice and should develop a good following. Do you know who made them for Radio Shack/Realistic?

STA-52 was my first good stereo receiver. That with a Lab-100 TT and two MC500 speakers and I was jammin' It was stolen from me in a burglary to my house in '79. My future wife had a Marantz/BIC system so I didn't replace it.
Great receiver for the money.
 
I have three of the big boys, (2) 2100's, (1) 2100D, and a 2080. Speakers include (2) pair of Mach 1's, and my Franken Machs (Mach 4 Rhinos) along with a pair of T-200's. My turntable is a LAB-400, they don't call me RS Steve for nuttin! :D
