I've had this for a few weeks now and finally understand the draw and passion of analog. The table is pretty much as I received it with the exception of the TT Weight. I did paint the cover on the outboard power supply as it simply stood out too much with my other gear. Below are some pictures of the current set up.

Cool. I do dig the cart, though. An Ortofon? Which model/stylus, and do you like it? Love the full range speakers, too. I have the Madisound model...perfect for Sinatra!

The cartridge is a KAB/ Stanton Groovemaster II AE Integrated Cartridge with nude Stereohedron stylus. As for me liking it I cannot really say as I've nothing else to compare it to. I do have the original Technics head shell and am currently looking for a MM cartridge. Currently considering the Shelter 201, Sumiko Pearl, or the Goldring G2100. I will say the sound I get from this set-up is at least as good as the sound from my MCD201. It's has about the same amount of detail and a bit more laid back than the digital source. All in all I enjoy both and will be looking to improve the Technics a little at a time. I am considering the tonearm rewire or maybe even a tonearm change. Isolation platform or feet, platter bearing upgrade, and maybe dampening the platter itself using either Dynamat or modeling clay (if it's a good idea?). So needless to say more to come :D

What's your cartridge budget?

Not really- you could throw the platter off. I do, however, suggest adding a heavier mat- I have a copper TTWeights mat on my Technics SP25, and they also sell an alloy version. Dave Cowley across the pond sells a nice machined one, or you may get lucky and find a good deal on a vintage SAEC model.

The bearing upgrade will give you mild but noticeable improvement. The arm may already have a re-wire, being modded by KAB. I like the M5G RCA cables and the KAB turret board plate.
