my subwoofer went silent

I'ver lost the subwoofer in my home theater system. My subwoofer is a Klipsch R-112SW and my receiver is a Yamaha RX-A3030. I've attached photos of my connections. In my receiver setup I've checked that my subwoofer is in "Use" "Normal" mode and my playback is "9 ch sterio". My subwoofer power led is lit and I've tried both "on" and "auto" and phase "0" and "180". I've tried to run the auto speaker setup but no sound emits from the subwoofer when the test signal sounds are to be emitted.

My RCA cable seems to test for continuity and I've tried a second cable as well.

What else can I do at this point?IMG_6696.JPG IMG_6695.JPG

Is that a 3 way switch for the on/standby settings on the subwoofer?
Looks like you have it centered which might be OFF if it's a 3 way switch.
Disregard if it's a 2 way switch.

Wonder if it has those super reliable premium Chinese Caps (SARCASM turned on) in it. Have seen reports of caps that failed in the power supply. They replaced them and brought it back to life.

I've heard of sub speaker wires vibrating loose. If you feel comfortable opening it up that might be worth checking. If you have an extra speaker floating around you could try connecting to the sub amp to see if it's truly kaput. Unfortunately, plate amps do seem to suffer a high mortality rate. Depends on the manufacturer. Definitive Technology amps are among the worst. I lost two, out of warranty of course, before I got rid of them altogether. There are aftermarket plate amps on EBay a lot.

Parts Express is your friend. They sell plate amps, plus the Dayton Audio Sub 1200's at $149 are a steal, the Dr suggests taking two and calling him in the morning lol.

I should mention here Parts Express has customer service second to none, they sent me a new plate amp no questions asked "out of warranty".

Similar situation here, they sent me a replacement amp when it wasn't really their fault I had an issue with mine. It was a spring clip retainer (speaker terminal, the amp itself was fine). failure.
Oh, and mine is a Sub 1200.

Both of my Dayton subs are also the 1200, but the older model. And here's the kicker, I purchased mine as discontinued through PE's eBay site factory refurbished for $92, and they STILL sent me the replacement amp after warranty, free, no questions asked.

That was 7yrs ago and still going strong.

thanks for this tip, the wires are intact

I asked PE to suggest a replacement plate amp and they came back with this:
https://www.parts-express.com/bash-300s-digital-subwoofer-plate-amplifier-300w-rms--300-750

The Bash 300S is $170, does this seem reasonable for a $400 (new) subwoofer?
If I do decide to replace, what might trip me up? Seems pretty straight forward but should I worry if the woofer is going to be compatible?

The Dayton 1200 is pretty attractive at $150

I don't see any reason the driver wouldn't be compatible. Only issues i could see would be whether or not it will physically fit/work without a lot of futzing. If you're pretty handy with tools etc then it should work fine, but I see it's out of stock until February lol.

I'll need to enlarge the opening about 3/8" in width and it is 3/8" smaller in height. I saw a photo on PE where someone applied a new oversized piece of mdf to make their install look clean.
thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

I see these come into my shop almost weekly now. 12-20 year old plate amp subs that someone bought at Tweeter, etc when they got their first bonus all of a sudden stopped working.. Name your brand, Velodyne, Klipsch, Boston Acoustics, Polk, B&W, etc... Sadly, there's no sense in fixing the plate amp. Agree with the others to just find an outboard power amp and bypass the plate amp, or replace it with an economy version from an online retailer like P-E.
