Hi guys!

I share with you photos of my system. I have Harman Kardon separates, HK 725 preamp, HK 715 tuner, HK 770 power amp, Cambridge audio DVD99 universal CD & SACD player, Technics SL 1800 MK2 turntable with an Ortofon 2M Black installed and a pair of Kef q-900 loudspeakers.

What would you upgrade first?

That's a tough call since everything is nice already. Personally, I think I'd look into 4 things: a subwoofer, room treatments, EQ (done right, as in with measurements), and getting the HK equipment restored.
 
Nice looking system! Have you got AK itches? What do you what to change? Sound quality should be very good. what do you think is missing? or great is never enough.

It's never good enough. I am thinking what could be the next step :)

...and don't worry, that cabinet door is in the to do list.
 
This is a damn nice system (and attractive to boot). Before you start upgrading, you should identify what you feel is lacking in the sound. Upgrading just for the sake of upgrading is kind of silly unless it's going to make an improvement without making something else worse.
 
I upgraded from a Technics deck to a Thorens TD160 and felt it was a big improvement. But my Technics was a modest SL-220 belt drive, not one of their fancy quartz-locked DDs.

Speaker placement and lack of room treatments. Get the speakers away from the diffraction of the ultra wide cabinet. Move them further out from the wall.

Add diffusion to first reflection points. Dampen bare ware behind gear.
 
That is a fine system you have right now. Unless you plan on spending some serious coin, You may be going sideways at best. I mean HC, KEF, Technics TT. That's good stuff. Stuff I would buy.

This may be sacrilege but add an EQ. I have never had one until I bought my new Yamaha Aventage AVR. I used the automatic EQ calibration to set up the 6.0 speaker system (required for dolby EX). The receiver has a direct function that shuts off everything but the amplifiers. When I disengage the direct button (turning on the EQ, the SQ of the speakers improves dramatically. I had no idea a Properly Calibrated EQ could be that effective.

How's this for a PERFECT match for your system.

PS: That is a dual mono power amp with a HUGE power supply and tons of heat sinking. It will likely out play lesser amps with much higher power ratings. Even my new Yamaha 665 w AVR doesn't have near the power supply your HC 130 w amp has. You could run the "B" speaker outputs to the garage for welding in a pinch.
