My 'Walkmen'

Gnesen

These little guys have followed me home from thrifts and garage sales over the last ten years or so. Only three of them are true 'Walkmen,' and none of them are particularly collectable models, but it's fun to break them out on occasion and give extended listens. I'll even hook them on my belt and listen when mowing the lawn or working out in the garden.

Based on their condition, I'd wager that most of them were barely used before I got them (the Optimus on the far right was new-in-box). Still, I've given them all new belts, except for the little Aiwa PX-347 (second from right). It's worked fine since I picked it up a few years ago and is my favorite of the bunch for listening to cassettes. The only one that doesn't work as it should is the Sony WM-GX50 on the far left -- it needs a new plastic clutch. Just thought I'd share.

From left to right:
Sony WM-GX50
Sony WM-FX451
Sony WM-FS220
Aiwa HS-JS315W
Aiwa PX-347
Optimus SCP-79

Love the small footprint of the AIWA PX-347,
nice! :trebon:

I agree! It's a pretty amazing feat of engineering for how small Aiwa was able to make some of their players. It helps that it doesn't have a tuner or recording functions.

For what it's worth, I like that silver Sony on the left, too. Again, not particularly collectable, but it works really, really well.
