Hi
My guess was that this is Fisher Ambassador IV.
Picked up, but didn't found no one word Fisher nowhere :(.
What is it? Anybody can help? Schematics?
Tuner/preamp - Chassis 9058-A
MX4 FM adapter Chassis - EIA code 1035
Power amp Chassis - not sure
12" AlNiCo Carbonneau woofers
Oxford metal horns
Transformers and drivers are definitely from 1962 based on EIA's
Some made in Great Britain 6BQ5s
Thank you in advance to all and be safe.

It's not a Fisher. If it was it would say The Fisher right on the control panel and the amp doesn't look like any Fisher I'm familiar with. Looks like a nice amp with pretty large output transformers for a PP 6BQ5 design.

Ambassador was a brand but I'm not sure where they were sold. I pulled an amp from a small Ambassador record player only console years ago. It was SE 6BQ5. I ended up using the chassis for a guitar amp build.

Doesn't look like a Fisher amp. It does actually look like the Madison-Fielding amp I have though. I think that one has popped up in a few consoles. Fair bet this is some chain store brand but produced by someone like Wells-Gardner or Belmont or one of the other OEM electronics makers.

I think thats the same speaker lineup too. I was given the drivers, the cabinet was re-purposed. I actually passed the drivers on to someone else. Unfortunately the transformers were meant for a 2.5 ohm load so not too useful on it's own. Ended up swapping them for some Hammond transformers. If you've got the whole thing its probably not a bad performer. Mine had a toasty power transformer though. The caps had failed and since it had no fuse it basically baked itself to death. If you have any thoughts on using this, as part of the overhaul I'd strongly suggest adding a fuse.

my hand-drawn schematics, maybe it will be of some use to you. Tube lineup is not correct, the first tube should be a 12ax7. Mine came with 12au7's installed and I just drew the schematic from what I found in the amp.

Thank you very much FlaCharlie and gadget73. Hand-drawn schematics may help, at least PS with diodes looks similar, but I will check point by point later.
Interesting that I found only rounded stamp 15/A on top of the chassis. Looks like someone made it similar to Fisher 30-A and 20-A designations (first "white van scam" in 60's :):)
This is how power amp chassis looks closer. Btw 12AX7 tubes looks original 1961 Mullard Blackburn itched 61 B1K1 with white 1022-6209 codes.

Might be a QA stamp. Mine didn't even get that. The paper tag might be of more use. I see a partial chassis number on it.

You know.....I'm pretty sure I have one of these amps.

I recall it was labeled on the Console as an Ambassador.....yet nothing on the Amp itself.

If I remember correctly.....it had some cool tubes, Mullards....that were labeled as "UltraTone"

I think @orthophonic is correct....about these being sold as Department Store specials...

Good workmanship....nice Aluminum Chassis....and sounded good. I still have it somewhere.

Dug up some pictures. Yes, it is the same amp.

There is an EIA Code stamped on my chassis for 1135. I recall doing some research on that..

It comes back to Gulbransen C.B.S.

Gulbransen is a very old company....going back to the 1920s.

Anyway....the trail ends there. Couldn't find anything about it. Checked Radio Museum and such.

Its possible they just supplied the Chassis....I don't know.

But CBS did make some Console Stereos too....closer to the period of time this one was manufactured.....so you might check that out....and see what you can find.

Here are a few pics.

huh, looks like my non-original power transformer is pretty close to original design. I think I'm running about 275v B+ where this calls for 250.
