Mystery Advent speakers

Vulture

Broad-Spectrum Hobbyist
An ad popped up on CL today for some Advent speakers, but no model #. The price looks good at $30 (at least I think so), but I have no idea what they are. Link to ad http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/col/ele/2567301854.html S/N on the two units are within 10 units of each other. Dimensions are listed as 28"x16"x10".

I emailed the seller, and he says they are at least 20 years old. What the heck are these, and are they worth it?

Oh yeah, obligatory "Not my ad!"

Do a site-specific Google search: there's a thread here somewhere that has pictures of all the Kloss and Jensen-era Advents. My guess would be Maestro. No idea how good they are, but factor a re-foam into the price.

Looks to be a Legacy, but they used a 10" woofer. For 30 bucks, I'd have a look. Check to be sure they don't have some RS replacement woofers as the originals would likely need new surrounds by now.

What exactly do you mean by "RS"? how would I differentiate?

Did some searching; they appear to be Legacys, either Series I or II. At 100w, I don't know how well that would go with my Marantz at only 15wpc. Definitely under-powered, but I don't know how (or if) it will work. If I get an answer from the seller tonight, I'll be going to check them out.
