Mystery Renaissance speakers

Unkle kaos

New Member
Hi everyone,

I have a chance to pickup some Renaissance speakers for free on CL... However not sure if they are worth it, the ad does not provide much info. It seems after a quick Google that Renaissance makes some higher end stuff.

They are an interesting looking design. 4 tweeters, 4 drivers and a square cab. Anyone know what these are? Would you recommend picking them up?

Thank you!

The light brown midrange is a Philips, worth the entry fee. The rest of it is up to whether you have extra room to store something you might not be able to correctly restore.

It's about an hour drive from where I live.

There's a very short list of speakers I'd spend an hour driving around Pittsburgh to pick up and these wouldn't be on it, even for free.

(I'm still reeling from just riding around there this past week.)

Somewhere else? Maybe.

Lol. Yeah traffic and roads here stink.

Well it looks like the ones with the whizzer cones need refoaming and one whizzer is whizzed so to speak. The woofers on the right look like sticky black accordion surrounds which suggests 1970s CTS woofers, those are pretty good.

These could make a fun garage system or something...they look like they could be a bit of a sonic mess, but you never know. :D
