As some of you know lately I've shyed away from
1. ported
2. midrangeless.

Warfedale 60's went lower but its tweeter could not touch this Mystery's high end clarity. (note either one could use a recap.)

I suspect this is not going to be rediculously hard--so model number please... :D

That's a Philips polycarbonate dome tweeter...I'm listening to a pair right now. I have no idea about the rest though!
 
Cool. :yes: I noted it says Belgium, and the magnet looked Phillips-like... I clearly got my ten dollars' worth... :yes:

The other one has inverted foam on the woofer--one of these isn't original foam...

I don't have the grills. After these are De-Mystified I'll see what the original cloth looked like.

Hints...

Pretty sure the woofs are AlNiCo. Screw-on terminals, so they are ... old.

The brand is not obscure. It's a monosyllable.

Ohm had larger dust covers, but most of their smaller conventional designs were ported or had passive radiators.

Marantz had a similar one--imperial seven maybe? But I think this predates their foray into speakerland. Not sure.

Hint: it says 6-8 ohm. Nice to see an honest admission that it's a range of values, not just a static figure.
 
They look an awful lot like my old Quadraflex three ways, that sound very soulful but have absolutely little following. thats my three cents worth.
 
I'm going to go with Ohms (I have no idea what model) -- the tweeters appear to be identical to those on my Ohm Cs. :scratch2:

And, until I acquired my Ohm Es, I too thought Ohm only used large dustcaps on their woofers -- not true. :no:

Build quality of the cabinets looks like heavy-duty Ohms, but the lack of model/serial plate makes me now question if they could really be Ohms. :scratch2:

The woofer doesn't look very Ohm-ish to me (too many bolts!)...but the cabinets' thick walls do look like something Ohm would churn out.

True. The other woofer surround is intact and has that characteristic A.S. tight bass ...this one shows the CTS(?) cage pattern better through the rotten foam.

The surprising thing was how 'modern' the tweeter sounded. I expected East Coast typical rolled off high end sound...but the highs were atypically clear and pronounced. Good dispersion too. Well thought out 3-way, now I want to hear the model 15.

MunkeyQ, in you opinion which of those brands using this tweeter is superior? Haven't heard any of those.

These have screw-on terminals like Advents, I thought they were the really really old ones with small flat screws. (Bozaks, Warfedale 60's).

I think the only other sunk round one I have are the Radio Shack Realistic Electrostat 2A.
