Mystery Turntable

Picked up a pair of Spica TC-50s from a local and he had this turntable that he wanted to sell as well. He said there were no labels and I didn't want to pull it off his shelf to figure out. Any ideas what table and tonearm this is?

Duane, as soon as I seen the Well Tempered photos I thought of @Sgt Shultz right away.

It's an early Well Tempered Lab Record Player not the Turntable, it was to compete with less expensive tables.

A great table that I looked at when it debuted but still couldn't afford it.

It may be setup for playing albums backwards, you know, to reveal any daemonic content.

Thank you all. Early Well Tempered makes sense. The guy who has it now inherited it from his current wife's deceased husband (or something like that) and is not an audiophile. I'm sure he doesn't recognize the cartridge is misaligned. Besides the Spicas which I already picked up, he has this table with a nice looking cartridge with a completely bent stylus, 3 other cartridges that look to be in good shape, dynavector, AT, and a Sumiko. Plus a pair of Infinite Slope Model 1s I think. I didn't have a bunch of time to look everything over. I think he would like to unload it all on me as he seemed very nervous about selling on FM.

Infinite Slopes are outstanding speakers. Help the guy out and get a great stereo inexpensively.

You won't get any info on the condition of cartridge styli outside of using a microscope so there is somewhat limited value in those without an inspection. The table is well worth the effort if you get it for the right deal. WT tables are very good performers as a general statement. I'd say make a deal. Sgt Schulz probably knows better, but that looks like the base is laminated. There was foam between layers of at least some models that can be a problem. There is a big Well Tempered thread with a lot of discussion. If you're game for some fun, maybe a little risk and a little work to follow, you should be able to pick up the whole enchilada for very little cash outlay.

Aside from possible unknown repair issues with the motor, base, bearing or wiring, the tables aren't difficult to dial in despite the funky looking arm set up.
