I've done a little research on replacement styli for this cartridge, and most point to either a NOS original or an SAS. The total value of my system isn't enough to convince me to pay the cost of either of these, however.

After a quick search for another option, I found this:

Anybody have any experience with these? Is it worth the 40 bucks over the generic replacement?

ViVid line styli are very well regarded by many people. Most people find them to sound much better than an ordinary elliptical or conical/spherical and, as a big plus, they also last much longer which will offset that additional outlay.

Another option is the JICO N91 stylus which is built and sounds like the original Shure stylus...

I will look into the Tonar. I was under the impression that the non SAS Jico wasn't worth using. Had read that on several threads, here.

That is nonsense. Although I don't own a SAS stylus, I'm sure they are excellent. I do own several JICO (non-SAS) styli and they are quality styli equal to the originals.

Some of that nonsense may also have come around because so many have confused the economy EVG styli with genuine Jico branded products. As you know, many have claimed that the EVG are Jico, and maybe they were made by Jico, I can't say. But you've already pointed out elsewhere that by examining them side by side they have very little in common. So even if they were made by Jico the genuine Jico branded stylus quality should not be judged based on experience with the EVG styli because there is a substantial difference in quality.
