NAD 3020 connected to Kenwood 5030

I just recently purchased a refurbished NAD 3020 and I'm looking to connect to my Kenwood KR 5030. The Kenwood was my first project. Do I connect the Kenwood to the switched AC outlet on the NAD and connect the speakers to the NAD 3020? Is there other connection I need to do before I power this power amp. My Kenwood wasn't putting out the vintage sound I was looking for so I followed some audiophile suggestions and searched for a NAD 3020 to go up another level. I want to make sure I got everything connected right before I power up.

I think the idea was to replace the Kenwood with the NAD, as two of its three functions overlap. Then, if you still want the Kenwood's tuner, connect a tape-out on the Kenwood to an aux or tape-in input on the NAD.

+1. Exactly. 3020 was a classic. Had one decades ago.

Most of the sound will be from the preamp portion. So, if the Kenny wasn't doing it for you, just use it as a tuner as already mentioned, or sell it and buy andedicated tuner.
