Nad 3020 vs 3020e and i versions

I have the 3020e and though not recapped with the best caps available in the intl market , it did sound decent afterwards.
But the jaw dropping good experience we had with my friend's modded and recapped series 20 nad 3020 , is still unforgettable....

Were the 3020e , 3020i and other versions inferior designs ???

Should i sell my 'e' model , n not waste time on it ???

The original 3020 series20 have a reputation for sounding better than the "e" and "i" models. i have compared my series20 to both 3120 and "i" my impression were that the later models sounded more detailed but lacked the punch and flow of the original design.
