NAD 3030 & 4030 refurbished with pics

This matching pair of amp and tuner took me a year and a half to find. These are NAD units from the 70’s and are fairly rare. The 3030 I got about a year ago and did a full recap and fixed a broken switch. The tuner took me over a year of watching eBay to finally find. I added the black walnut veneer and removed the black plastic that was on it as both had rips and tears on the body. These two units sound amazing. Pretty proud of these and LOVE the way they look, I’m a sucker for big VU meters.
Just wanted to share with the group, hope you enjoy and had a great weekend.

I still don't get why everyone seems to place the tuner on top of the amp and not the other way around. '70s marketing? Amps need airflow, tuners not as much.

I'll guess because of the weight of amp versus tuner.

Absolutley because of the weight, it woul dbe very top heavy the other way around. It does make sense that the amp needs airflow but I don't think it's starved in it's current set-up
 
If you've ever stacked them amp on top you'll know it's not going anywhere due to being "top heavy." To each his own, but giving the amp the airflow will bring returns such as longer lifespan and fewer heat related issues.

I agree.
Also,I think it's funny you bring this subject up and the pic in your avatar has the amp on the bottom of the stack. :biggrin:
