NAD 319 Relay Cleaning/Change

Greetings fellow audiophiles,

Got the typical Relay "symptoms" on this NAD 319 amplifier and would like to know if it´s worth trying to clean the Speaker relay or better to put a new one in. Seems to be a very common issue with NAD amplifiers. It is in excellent condition, cosmetically looks new and the insides--apart from the dust--are all original.

1. There is more than one relay in there but I would imagine the one that needs to be changed is the 48VDC one (DEC).

2. How do I open the DEC relay? Been trying to remove the black cover but it´s not coming off. Is it worth trying?

3. From what I have read, the Omron G2R-2-DC48 would be a perfect replacement (drop-in) for the original: This is the one I found on mouser:

Should I remove the power board--looks like a pain--or better to remove the bottom cover? The bottom cover has 2 separate parts to service the left and right channels but not for the PSU side. Looks like will be a time consuming endeavor.

Appreciate your help guys!

Greetings Audiophiles!!

Just in case anybody else is having the same symptoms with the relay. I can confirm that it´s NOT necessary to desolder any wires in order to remove the main PSU board. It is necessary to remove the Right Channel module and the Inputs Module.

Kind of a pain in the behind and a little time consuming but it can be done. Obviously, would have been a lot easier if the bottom cover would completely come off.

Also the Omron G2R-2-DC48 relay is AN EXACT match and it fits perfectly.

Working like a charm with the new relay!

Cheers!!!

Hi Zeus,
I have a blue mute relay RL 609 (center of picture) on my NAD 317 that needs cleaning, any idea about how to get the blue cover off? Would like to avoid desoldering if possible.
Thanks!.
