NAD 602 Cassette Deck

Although I always loved NAD preamps, power amps, tuners, and receivers, I was generally less impressed with their components that require moving parts, such as turntables and cassette decks. However, that said, a couple years ago I bought a used NAD receiver to connect to this computer, and the cassette deck was more or less thrown in, sort-of. Anyway, I love the sound, and I really love the Play Trim feature which, if I understand correctly, allows me to adjust azimuth on the fly. This means that if I made a tape 30 years ago on that Teac, or a bit later on the Denon, or the Nak at work, or whatever, if the azimuth wasn't aligned perfectly back when, I can still adjust the head today to get the best playback possible. I just turn it until I get the best highs; works well. Anybody else got one of these they find useful?

I don´t know about this Nad model, but the feature of having a real-time, easy adjustment of the playback azimuth head is also present in models like Nakamichi CR-7 (or CR-7A or CR-7E)

I believe the Play Trim adjustment on the NAD's is just an adjustable equalizer that boosts or cuts the high end by a few db. I don't believe it adjusts the heads at all.

Still a nice feature to have though.

Good call, Tripqzon. Found the info at NAD site. Cuts/boosts HF's pre-Dolby circuitry. Thanks for the correction; I've only misunderstood what it does for about 15 or 20 yrs.

And you are correct; it is handy.
