So I snagged a 7020 and it does have what I now see is a common problem with the power switch arcing as I turn it on. And as I have read, it does it for a little less than a minute or so before stopping. The sound of this unit is great. When I got it I was able to remove top and bottom covers and deoxit all the pots to remove the static sounds. And that, my friends, is the extent of my DIY experience.
So now I am wondering if I should try to tackle the switch issue. I did read a post outside of the group that detailed solving the problem by removing the switch, disassembling and cleaning the contact points (sandpaper, emery board etc) . But I have never desoldered, nor soldered pieces to a board before. I am pretty good when it comes to home repairs, but am wondering if I should try this? I know the pat answer is probably, "Only you know if you should try it." But, how difficult is it to desolder and solder? Are there any good threads or videos on it?
Or, should I just plug the thing into a power strip and all it a day?
Thanks, folks. ~Pete
