NAD 7020 receiver distorted output

I have a NAD 7020 that I bought new many years ago. It's been sitting unused for years. I recently plugged it in to see if it still worked and found that everything was OK except for the balance knob creating static on the right side and loss of volume too on the right (and yes I've tried the search and read some posts regarding this issue). I sprayed the pots with deoxit, and plugged in my cd player to give it a go and the output is distorted on both right and left channels. Anyone have any advice? I may just offer it up to someone that wants to fix it because I'm sure that if I take it to a repair shop, it'll cost several hundred dollars to re-cap and replace bad components. Though I'm not even sure what's wrong at this point, and I'm not an electronic tech so I can't diagnose it myself.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a 7020e that I got for a good price because it had distorted sound. Mine turned out to have 2 of the Fuses blown (I think they were the 1A), it wasn't obvious and if you have a MM do a continuity check on them. Replacing those fuses fixed mine and it's been good since.

Thanks for posting xrayspex77. I'll check the fuses first. Should have been the obvious place to start! I have a feeling it's the power section, or the Volume/Level pot though, but indeed I'll check the easier things first. What a cool forum this is! I stumbled upon this forum while searching for answers to this very question and decided to become a member. I've always loved Audio, and have been a professional musician (drummer) most of my life.
