hello AK peeps, I just ordered some caps for my 7175, has anyone done a cap replacement on one of these and have any tips on the teardown of the amp, I havent taken a detailed look at whats involved yet but know everything is jammed in quite good and I think the board I need to get to is the one under the top board so any pointers would be nice.

It rather depends upon which capacitors you'r replacing. There's a gorgeous scan of the 7175PE service manual on the HiFiEngine site at https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/nad/7175pe.shtml
That will show you layout and schematics.
Hello, yes I have that document thanks to another AK member hooking me up, thanks for the link tho, I am replaceing all of the electrolytics listed on the bom for the main board, I have already replaced the 4 1000uf caps, I think there are about 14 more to go. Hope to get them at the end of the week. So have you had one apart?

I have a 7155 that I've had apart, as well as two 301s and a 701. I also play with Proton gear, and I think all the Proton and NAD gear of that era was assembled in the same factory in Taiwan -- a lot of it looks similar on the inside. I was just noticing today how the tone controls in the 301 and 701 have the same resistor values.

To answer your question, no, I have never had a 7175PE to take apart. However that scan of the service manual on HFE is amazing, and with some tools and patience I'm sure you'll have success in your project.

Got my caps delivered today, picking up a new soldering iron then im going in,

keep us posted and pics and take notes are a good idea. Also suggesting that with new soldering iron don't know your skill but check the solder flow results w/ a good magnifying glass. while your in there give a good look at other solder joints. You can gloogle up lee's work with an ak query.

Yes not lacking on the soldering skills, got probs at least 5000 hours experience and was MIL spec certified for 10 years, good advice on doing a solder joint check, may just reflow all of them if I can, will take and post some pics and keep You updated.

Im in, so here are some pics, at this point I have made sure all pots and in and out bits are lubed so now to changing some caps, ive got certain ones to change then I document the ones I havent and order replacements for those.IMG_0462.JPG
