I have the following fault on my NAD C565BEE CD player:
Intermittent - periodically (a few days in a row) works flawlessly, periodically the fault comes every half hour - 1 h in between. Not heat related - can happen after 5 minutes of playing.
Behaviour: Suddenly the sound disapears completely for 5-10s to later re-appear just as suddenly but with parts of the sound picture missing, often the vocals and or guitars, sounds hollow and thin like a guitar out of phase for the majority of the total sound scape. After re-starting it works fine again for some time before starting all over. Not heat related, can occur after 5 mins playing.

Voice (almost) missing from CD playback
My first thought would be to say "how can the electronics know about the voice separately?" Well, the answer is "it cannot". However, due to the way vocals are often recorded, this behavior is possible, if unlikely. What must happen is for the audio output to be the difference between the left and right channels mostly cancelling the centered vocal track but not having as much effect on the audibility of the instruments.
It is possible for this to happen as a result of a bad ground connection or an electronic fault in the analog circuitry following the D/A stage but it is quite unlikely to be due to a problem in the optical pickup or digital decoding - though not out of the question.
My questions:
Ideas what could be causing this?
Something I can fix myself like replacing a component?
Ideas on cost to fix?
Is this a known/common error in this model?
