NAD CD Player Repair Question

Hi. I have several NAD CD players which need laser replacement. Most of them, on the Marantz-Philips site, require the Sony KSS-210A laser.

I brought them to a technician who later returned them to me, unrepaired, stating that not all KSS-210A's have the same pin-out structure, etc. and that the specific KSS-210A's for these units were not available any longer.

Is this possible or are all KSS-210A laser units interchangeable?

Not sure on their interchangeability but my catalogue lists 5 different types of this model laser, so there could be some differences. It does not detail any of the pinouts on this model laser to check though.
