Nad pp2 questions

I have a reciever with only one phono input, I have 2 turntables one with an mc cartridge and one with an mm cartridge. Can I plug in both to a nad pp2 and just use the switch on the back of the nad to switch between the two?

I don't think that is quite how it will work. If it were me I would connect the mm turntable to your receiver's phono input, and run the mc turntable through the PP2 which should be then connected to a line level (not phono) input on the receiver.

I kinda figured it would have to be like that, thought it might be easier to hve both plugged into the same unit.

Ken: Yes, you can do that. The PP2 basically is a two-stage design, with the usual Lipshitz style opamp-based MM stage and a linear discrete-transistor-based MC gain stage in front of that - and the selector switch switches between the MM input and the output of the MC gain stage. The pic with the schematic here on AK doesn't really show the switch, though, so I don't know, whether the switch would only switch the signal/+ or also signal ground/-, so having both tables connected might result in a slight increase in load capacity...

Ken, you can do it if you connect your nad to the line stage of your amp and not phono.

I did it myself when I had a nad pp2e. I connected a Technics SL10 with LOMC to the MC connectors and another TT running MM into the MM connectors and connected the nad to the line stage of my amp. I was able to switch back and forth during simultaneous play for side by side comparison of the sound. Just don't connect the nad to your phono stage of your main amp.
