Nad speakers, model two !

I can't find ANYTHING about them on the internet, which is very strange. I wondered if anyone has any information on these speakers. they have white coloured woofers and Seas tweeters and were described as from the 3020 amplifier era.

Has anyone seen before, or know anything about them.
I finally found out who bought them!

yeah i saw them on ebay too, i was very tempted. high quality finish from NAD means they are definitly better than your average bear. buy them and a 3020 amp and i think you could sell them as a package for a fair profit.

and no iam not selling them hehe

That's really very odd, since the same company that markets NAD in North America also markets PSB. I'm thinking they're something from the UK that wasn't sold this side of the pond. I could be wrong.

As far as I know, NAD never has made speakers, but has on occasion contracted them from manufacturers. A good example are my recently acquired NAD 20s that were developed for them by a/d/s/ and manufactured by Braun. So, it's very possible that those were contracted from PSB.

NAD did market some smaller column style tower speakers (ie the model 20's mentioned above) in the US back in the mid to late 1980's using a Braun soft dome tweeter and woofer. I talked a friend into buying them as a demo pair from a boutique audio store at a decent price and they were quite happy with them.

I have never seen the model being discussed in this thread in the U.S. before, so I also think these may have been brought over from Europe (or possibly down from Canada).

Those tweeters remind me of early Boston Acoustics tweets, and the woofers look like older JBL....just an observation, not condemnation. Nice find!

I bought a pair of NAD speakers in 1989 from Dr. Rock at the Sound Factor in Encino, Ca. that were a 10" 3 way configuration. Sold them years ago and can't remember the model # for sure, but I think it was the NAD 300. It was a nice sounding speaker, with a black woofer. I think Schen is correct in stating that NAD speakers were a private label. I was told that mine were made by a speaker company in Alabama(?). There is a PDF from NAD on line for their speaker models 825 and 855. No date on the PDF, but they look much more recent than my late 80s NADs. Rats, I should have kept the 300s. Probably a highly sought after collectors item now. Then again maybe not.
Dr Rock had a pair of Infinity Kappa 7s on sale that he said were a better speaker and were only $100 more because they were demos. But $100 was more money then and I was broke. And in the sound room I thought the NADs sounded comparable to the Kappas. I was happy with the NADs. They were a pretty good speaker.

they arrived today in there original box, there is a date for them on the box, a courier sticker date of 1982, being sent to a hifi shop called hifi market in hitchin, uk, the shop is closed now, I did try to find it. The box says "NAD TWO", "made in England", I opened them up to find the tweeter is a Seas H211 and is probably from the late 70's, the woofer is strange as it has a sticker on it saying NAD 20W001, that's all, I guess it wasn't actually made by NAD but made on request? The crossover is a simple kind of thing, a couple of coils and a capacitor like Kef used in there 70's speakers.
The back of the speakers have a badge saying NAD TWO.
The overall design resembles (slightly) the Mission 770's, in that the same tweeter is used, and I'm not sure but the port is the same size and the dimensions seem similar, but the missions being somewhat taller and slimmer, these NAD are shorter and broader. I feel some designers were influenced by each other here. Nice bit of NAD history nad nice bit of NAD sound.

I think they look great and sound really nice, I'm loving it. Got them plugged into a Sansui Au-5500, have got an AE aegis neo sub connected too but for now turned off so I can hear then plain and simple with no amp filters etc.
Still havent got them sitting in the right place, but they singing sweet melodies:music:.

I cant believe I got the only pair of these here NAD MODEL TWO's !!!!!!!!!!!

I still want some info on these, if anyone might know a good forum to ask
oh I got a response from NAD, well I think it was NAD, they said
"Thank you for contacting the NAD Electronics Support Centre.

I have checked with numerous people and unfortunately no one knows about or has any information on the NAD Model Two speakers except that they were probably made in Germany more than 25 year ago." hmmmmm
they're a mystery:scratch2:
lovely valentines present:D

will post some clear pics soon

potentially the woofers have been refoamed, and who knows, because I cant find any info on them, the tweeters may or may not be original.
I tried removing a woofer but they seem to be glued in place, I dont want to force anything, theres no need really, so I will leave them alone for now and enjoy the music.

Been playing them all day, sound really good, really very good, I'm enjoying them alot, a real pleasure to listen too.

18x11x9 deep, 8 inch woofer front ported, Ive turned off the AE aegis neo sub for now just so I can have a good listen

still hoping to know a little about the history though!
